Eerder bekend was al bekend dat SOAK, STUFF. en The Growlers zouden komen. En er komen überhaupt nog een sloot namen bij natuurlijk.
Sólstafir is daarbij een opvallend (mooie) keuze. De IJslandse (post-rock / sfeervolle metal) band stond vorig jaar in Doornroosje en vorig weekend nog op het Roadburn-festival in Tilburg, net zoals Monolord overigens. Deze bands en Mars Red Sky treden op in samenwerking met FortaRock. Chalo Correia, Hiatus Kaiyote en Vaudou Game staan op het festival in samenwerking met Music Meeting (wereldmuziek).
Het is verder een fijn weerzien met de stuiter-post-rockers van And So I Watch You From Afar die in 2010 ook al eens op (toen nog) de-Affaire stond, vlak voor hun doorbraak overigens, al heeft dat nooit echt doorgezet. My Baby gaf een prima show weg op Oranjepop vorig jaar, nu staan ze een parkje verder. Unknown Mortal Orchestra maakte dik indruk op Lowlands 2013 met hun vreselijk lekkere gitaargefreak. Fijne boeking! Interessant lijkt me ook de samenwerking tussen Anton Newcombe, de frontman van de legendarische psychedelische band The Brian Jonestown Massacre (vorig jaar nog op Down The Rabbit Hole) en Tess Parks. Enfin. Veel goeds dus. Nu al.
Het Valkhof festival is van 18 tot 24 juli en vindt uiteraard plaats in en rondom het Valkhof in Nijmegen. De entree is helemaal gratis, dus koop je biertje daar voor een bijdrage in de kosten. Luister hier naar mijn Spotify-lijst.

Verder werden er ook namen bekend gemaakt voor Plein 44 tijdens de vierdaagsefeesten, daar staan onder meer de mega mash-up-band Memphis Maniacs (op dinsdag 19 juli), de Nijmeegse rockgroep De Staat, Navarone, Back To The 90’s, Proost, Bluebettes, Sue The Night, Tony Terrific, Enge Buren, Abba Gold, Dirty Daddies, BZB, Kees Van Hondt, BAB en Weekend Warriors.
Ook zijn de twee laatste namen van artiesten die in de Stevenskerk optreden zijn bekend gemaakt: Op maandagavond komt Will and the People en vrijdags de Belgische Ozark Henry. Hij speelt in de Stevenskerk zijn nieuwe project ‘Paramount’ met piano en strijkerskwartet. Kaarten van tussen de 15 en 17 euro kun je vanaf zaterdag 18 april kopen vanaf 10:00 uur via www.doornroosje.nl.
